2. What are genres of English Poetry? give an example of each genres.

ANSWER
1. Poetry is a written art that created by someone to convey a message. Poetry is not just a word but also a form and a pattern of sound.
2. The genres of English poetry, there are three main genres :
- Narrative Poetry : tells a story
Example : Edna St. Vincent Millay's "The Ballad of the Harp Weaver"
"Son," said my mother,
When I was knee-high,
"you've need of clothes to cover you,
and not a rag have I.
There's nothing in the house
To make a boy breeches,
Nor shears to cut a cloth with,
Nor thread to take stitches.
There's nothing in the house
But a loaf-end of rye,
And a harp with a woman's head
Nobody will buy,"
And she began to cry.
- Lyric Poetry : song-like and emotional.
Example : Elizabeth Barrett Browning's famous poem "How Do I Love Thee".
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;

- Dramatic poetry : encompasses a highly emotional story with a specific situation.
Example : "The Dream Called Life" by Pedro Calderon de la Barca.

3. There are several genres of poetry in Indonesia :
- Old Poetry (up to the 1920) : Mantra, pantun, karmina, seloka, gurindam, syair and talibun.
Example : Seloka
Sudah bertemu kasih sayang
Duduk terkurung malam siang
Hingga setapak tiada renggang
Tulang sendi habis berguncang
- New Poetry (1920- now) : balada, himme, ode, epigram, romansa, elegi, satire, distikon, terzina, kuatrain, kuint, sektet, septima, oktaf and suneta.

Engkau menemaniku

- Contemporary Poetry : poetry that no longer talks about the shrewdness of language poets, but rather the structure of typography, and sometimes it appears in gauze.
